BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE AND SCALABLE BUSINESS
About This Course
Starting a business is not simply about having an idea, identifying a problem or discovering people who like your solution. A founder must answer two much more important questions: Q1: Can this business sustain itself? And, if it succeeds: Q2: Can it grow without breaking? Many founders commit money, time, emotional energy and other valuable resources to ventures without first establishing whether a sufficiently large and economically viable market exists. Others successfully validate their ideas, acquire customers and begin generating revenue—but encounter serious problems when they attempt to scale. This course introduces a practical framework for avoiding both mistakes. In Module 1, learners will examine the factors that determine whether a venture is commercially sustainable, including market need, market size, affordability, unit economics and repeat purchase. In Module 2, learners will discover why a business that works successfully at one level may fail at a larger scale, and how founders can evaluate market capacity, operational infrastructure and distribution capability before expanding. The central principle of the course is simple: A business should not scale merely because it is working. It should scale only when the market, economics, operating system and distribution infrastructure are capable of supporting the next level of growth.
